DON BRENNAN: PARTY CRASHER
Written by Tim

Don Brennan: "Sorry Dany I haven't had a chance to return your calls, it's been a busy summer."

I don't think that went as well as the Heatley camp thought it would. Don Brennan definitley stole the show.My other favourite part is when Dany Heatley said "I am a hockey player." Amazing. For those of you who missed todays tongue lashing, here is my summary.

Dany Heatley: (mumbling) blah blah blah options.
Reporter: Serious question.
Dany Heatley: (mumbling) blah blah blah options.
Repeat.

That press conference may have sunk his reputation to an all time low. That guy couldn't talk his way out of a paper bag.

I thought you guys just chose Brennan to pick on and gave him a bad rap for no particular reason (other than being a terrible hockey writer, but that also applies to a handful of the sports media here). But he outed himself as a total douche on that conference call.. what a waste. Heatley actually outclassed him during that exchange.
Keep firing away at him, ugh

I almost felt like I was listening to Rocky after beating Ivan Drago, except Dany couldn't come up with anything inspiring. All I can say is wow. He should have just apologized, said the request was still on the table and that he would be here in September. All that not enough options crap was just plain annoying. He's been shown the coin, but not the 'Quan'. Well Dany, J.P is not Gerry McGuire and you aren't Rod Tidwell. Jesus, that guy should never have an A on his jersey.

If I can change, and youse can change, we all can change! yaaaaaak. The way we'se felt about you hasn't changed Rock ... er Dany.

Actually the way Ise felt has changed. I hope Murrays "presser" at 3:30 is to announce a trade. Christ, do I feel cheated now. I shouldn't, it's only a fkn game, but not only has his rep been further tarnished the likely return for him will drop, furthering my belief he'll be here till June 2013 or even Free Agency June 2014! Fawk!

No defense for Dany no
written by Jalen , August 21, 2009
+ Highest paid player on the team
+ Plays on the first line every night
+ Given an "A" at the beginning of last season
+ Asked by all of Murry, Hartsburgh and Clouston to be a more dominant all around player for the team
+ Moved to the second power play unit to try to get the PP going because neither units were working

= Disappointed with his decreased role on the team???

Unless SJ steps up and meets BM's asking price, Dany will cave (gutless lowlife's usually do) and be an Oiler on Sept 12th. Only real question is if Tamber will still have him.

I fully agree with MOP, an apology to the fans and the team would have taken a huge amount of the hostility out of the situation and would have improved the environment around the team 1000%. He could come back to the team for now, Murray could look for a trade and fans could at least grudgingly accept his presence for the time being. As it stands now he's only confirmed our worst fears about his motives and how he feels about how the whole situation went down. He couldnt even acknowledge the fact that anyone was upset or affected by his actions. Astonishing, and sad. I've been sticking up for him all summer, but now I've got nothing left to say.

The way to view it!
written by Canucnik , August 21, 2009
This "Presser" was for Nichols and Hockey Canada not for us. Dany wants to be An Olympian! And HE and We shall suceed..."Gold!"

Guys...Dany's ours! Kovy depressurizes Alf; Alf depressurizes Jason; Jason depressurizes "BIG Dan"...50 goals.

One thing and I said it at the time...last year Redden leaves...there is $, CAP and space for a BIG D-MAN...promises are made...and broken...the big three look around the room and realize they don't have nearly enough...they collectively throw in the towel.

There were two big "Blunders" made reguarding our DEFENCE last year...don't get me started! It effected everyone!

what you didn't see behind the scenes.
Question; Dany why ask for the trade? dany looks to Agent...agent responds "tell them hockey sumthing sumthing Dark side...sumthing sumthing"
Dany's father "yesssss goood let the ego flow through you"

enough fun lets face it he will never play well for the sens...he will buckle to whatever offer BM makes because his Ego could not take the boos of fans i hate to say this but "BRING ON CHEECHOO!!!!"

Maybe my expectations were set too high. I wasn't expecting to be floored by some new development that would "explain it all". Just something that exhibited class. You talk about your elite players, class players - Ray Bourque, Joe Sakic, Stevie Y, Ron Francis, Mario Lemieux, Gretzky etc I could go on for many more, and they all exhibit(ed) a certain poise, and spoke plainly and with coherent logic. Dany was painful to listen to. Here is a guy who wants to be seen as a leader - well you can either lead by example (if you can't communicate well), by communicating well or by doing both. And right now he is doing none of the above - he's anti-leading if that's possible.

Some poster on Yahoo said a leader would embrace a 'demotion' to the second unit if he was expected to improve it. Given all the things Dany has been given - the 'A' etc, you think he would have nut up and did it. And there enlies the caveat. Leaders find ways to rise above, find the sugar in the shit sandwich, make lemonade from the lemons yadayada ... but Dany didn't see the opportunity for what it was, hence won't be the leader he wants to be. Hell Alfie took years to become Alfie, Stevie Y years to become Stevie Y, Dany wants it now, without doing the time and taking the adversity. It's classic 'me' generation. This press conference could have been his time to shine, spin it like the leader he wants to be, but instead he fell flat, very flat, IMHO.

I guess as a (former) Heatley fan I felt he had it in him. I recognize he's a good player, maybe even elite at times but a classy elite leader will likely now never be a string of adjectives used to describe him.

I won't boo him when he comes back, as long as he plays as he claims he will - like an 8M dollar scorer. The Sens will be a good team with him or without, but I'm definitely on the side that wants him gone, now.

Brennan is an Ass
written by Grinder , August 21, 2009
I still don't blame Heatley at all and agree with Canucnik that many big mistakes were made by management in the past two or three years that affected everyone in that room.

When you are a marquis player like Chara and the team's management treats you poorly, you leave. Heatley has a contract (which he will honour), so he is stuck... Doesn't change the fact that he wants out and away from this coach and management team. He was being polite. What do you want him to say? "I hate Clouston and the thought of having this guy as a coach makes me puke!" Come on...

I agree with comments that Clouston tried too hard to be a hard ass to assert himself in his new role. He was a nobody and only had a short time to prove himself, so he was over the top. It was a huge rookie mistake to think that he could treat our biggest star like crap.

As for the numerous comments about how we don't need Heatley and how he can be replaced by lame dogs like Cheechoo, Penner, Comrie - please go f*&^ yourselves. You are as stupid as Don Brennan.

I also thought his interview was straightforward and honest. I don't think Brennan's behaviour was acceptable and I wish someone would take that guy out back and kick his ass.

Grinder:

seriously what the fuck?

In the words of Chris Neil the franchise bent over backwards for this guy and you think not enough was done? You believe Heatley when he talks about his role on the team diminishing when in reality the only thing that diminished was his play? And you really have the balls to heap the blame on Clouston the one guy to bring something positive from last season?

If the words spoken were to complicated for you let me simplify:

Dany Heatley went to the podium and did his best Kenny Powers impression
"your the fuck out Ottawa!"

sad...sad.. but theres always one person who says shit don't stink in every group. Grinder..grinder. Fools favour the foolish..which are you? OTR chara states he was in on his trade 100%. Cory stepped into a bad situation and managed to do what nobody had done...focus the team into a TEAM. K maybe you can't get over that SENS fans are venting on Dany but to call ones self a TEAM player yet cry you want out when your not happy without attempting to improve your play is simply (spoiled) behaviour. He so called presser was another in a long list of snubs...say a whole lot of nothing. If he is booed till he crys i will not care because his attitude was simple...its about DANY not wanting to try but wanting his way. I'm sure his millions of fans in his bank account are all the attention he needs.smilies/tongue.gif If you don't like whats become of the sens then look for another team to follow..i here the leafs bandwagon is very popular rite now.

He says he he is considered a team player by those he has played with/for. So....why has he not returned the calls of his team mates? And why has no trade happened? Despite the salary cap issues, if he is as wonderful as he thinks he is, a trade would have happened by now. Guess what Dany, you may think you are a team player, but nobody else does.
