Fitting

On the same day that Tim pens a piece comparing individual NHL teams to beer brands, rumor has it that Theo Fleury is following in the footsteps of Claude Lemieux and is attempting a comeback.

According to TSN:

After playing senior hockey last season, Fleury decided in February he was fit enough to give the NHL another try, so he hired a personal trainer and has been working diligently since.

Those close to him say he didn't leave the National Hockey League the way he wanted, which is fueling his desire to return.

The 41-year-old has been sober for almost four years and has been skating daily in Calgary in the hope that an NHL team is willing to invite him to training camp.

Interest in the former Stanley Cup champion won't be enough to clear the way for Fleury's return.  He remains under indefinite suspension and would first have to be approved by the NHL and the NHLPA's Substance Abuse programs doctors before reinstatement would be considered.

Fleury is still a mess...the worst thing you can do is quit drinking...41 you lose body mass...it's a long way from Senior to the "Bigs".

PS: You guys have suceeded in changing my name, where hundreds of others have failed...so it's two ks for the Sixth

I heard from a few friends who had the displeasure of playing senior hockey with him in Calgary that he had a Jose Canseco sized ego, (you could argue Jose's ego weighed more than Theo too), and played hockey while "lit", quite a bit. I bet some of his "best" years as an NHLer he doesn't even remember. Alcoholism is a disease, so I won't delve into shitting on him, best of luck if is clean and fit enough to try a comeback. I was sad to see him leave the league, he usually was a solid pick for the pool.
