Alive and Well (Gonna Get ‘er to Go)

From Belly's Go Sens Go to the more recent Peter Joynt CapCity track, the Ottawa Senators have become a popular source of material for local musicians and artists. With the conclusion of the lockout, it was only a matter of time before we could add another song to the stable of Senators inspired songs.

Reader Ken A. sent us an email alerting us to a new 'Sens-themed sing-along folk tune written by a friend' of his named Craig Mainprize. I've embedded the track below and included the lyrics as well. If you want to download the track, you can do so by following the following link to Craig's Bandcamp page. Thanks again to Ken for sharing the song with us.

Just as a note to readers, if you ever have any opinion, information, story, or whatever that you want to share, please do not hesitate to email us using the contact section of this website.

There is a game that people play.
If you've got snow you're on your way.
'Cause if you got snow, you must have ice,
And having ice is rather nice.

'Cause where there's ice, there's ice there's hockey sticks.

All kinds of people get their kicks.

They win and loose and bruises show,

They're alive and well, gonna get 'er to go.

They're alive and well, gonna get 'er to go.

They're alive and well, gonna get 'er to go.

TStill alive and well, gonna get 'er to go.

They're alive and well, gonna get 'er to go.

The arena's full the puck just dropped.

The lock out's gone, the game's on top.

They say that Alredsson's come back,

For one more go, and he's on the attack.

He's lookin' stronger than before.

Almost slipped it 'round the net back door.

But that ol' goalie's lookin' good.

He's keeping it down like they said he would

He's alive and well, he's gonna get 'er to go.

He's alive and well, he's gonna get 'er to go.

Still alive and well, he's gonna get 'er to go.

We're alive and well, we're gonna get 'er to go.

Third period's is drawing to a close,

And it never looked like it could be so close.

The crowd is cheering for the Sens,

'Cause they're alive and well, they're gonna get 'er in the end.

Still alive and well, they're gonna get 'er to go.

Still alive and well, they're gonna get 'er to go.

Still alive and well, they're gonna get 'er to go.

Still alive and well, they're gonna get 'er to go.
