According to the Ottawa Sun‘s Bruce Garrioch, the Senators may be venturing into the trade market to find a defensive partner for Erik Karlsson. If true, it speaks volumes for where the organization think Marc Methot’s recovery is at. Methot, who was activated off the injured reserve (IR) back on December 4th, played in two games […]
After scoring his first NHL goal on Monday night in Buffalo, the kid with the golden smile is off win gold at this year’s WJHC. In somewhat of a surprise, at least to me, the Ottawa Senators have loaned Curtis Lazar to Team Canada. Very grateful to the entire Ottawa Senators organization. Looking forward to welcoming Curtis Lazar […]
Speaking at his annual ‘Skate for Kids’ charitable event yesterday, Senators owner bravely donned a number ’11’ Melnyk jersey (note: to commemorate his 11th year owning the Senators) and touched upon a number of prevalent matters relating to the team. If you want to watch Melnyk’s full availability, you can do so by scrolling to […]
Elliotte Friedman, the man who doesn’t get nearly enough camera time during the weekly Hockey Night in Canada broadcasts penned his latest ’30 Thoughts’ blog on Sportsnet. Given the interesting coaching developments that took place last week, you knew there were going to be a number of Senators-related items within Friedman’s post. Down the rabbit […]
After being one of the healthiest teams over the past season and a half, the hockey gods have turned their attention to the Ottawa Senators. After losing Chris Neil for the foreseeable future when he tweaked his knee absorbing a hit from the Los Angeles Kings’ Brayden McNabb on Thursday night, now the Senators will […]
With Phillips upstairs The Sens take two in Boston (!?!?) Cameron’s first win.
In his first game behind the bench on Thursday night versus Los Angeles, Dave Cameron elected to dress the same lineup that his predecessor, Paul MacLean, frequently used, but today things have really been shaken up. Ottawa’s new head coach was sold to Senators fans as a good communicator and today Cameron sent his first message by making […]
In his fifth shift of the first period in last night’s 5-3 loss to the Los Angeles Kings, Senators forward Chris Neil was rocked by a Brayden McNabb check along the right side wall. Looking at the video below, it kind of looks like Neil’s knee gets tweaked a little bit as his body absorbs the hit. […]
And another angle: .
If you missed yesterday’s episode of Sportsnet‘s ‘Hockey Central’, you missed a pretty telling conversation in which Doug MacLean — who I should everyone is pretty tight with the Murray family — shed some light on the Senators firing of Paul MacLean. When asked about how the firing of MacLean could start of chain of […]
According to an article by the Ottawa Citizen‘s Joanne Chianello, the Ottawa Senators are “contemplating a move downtown.” On September 30th, the NCC’s invited the private sector to submit plans to develop a 9.3 hectare parcel of land (that could be expanded to 12.3 hectares) at LeBreton Flats for the purpose of putting a signature attraction in […]
It’s kind of a sad moment realizing that this may be the last instance when I’ll ever be able to use the ‘MacLean red phone’ image for a post, but damn it all if this won’t be a memorable last time. Even though he was under no obligation to speak to reporters following his dismissal […]
One day removed from the Senators’ decision to fire head coach Paul MacLean and replace him with his assistant coach, Dave Cameron, the organization is looking to fill two executive positions. Not only are the Senators looking to fill their ‘Director of Strategic’ development, they’re also apparently on the search for a new ‘Chief Financial Officer’. I have […]
Ottawa Senators general manager Bryan Murray addressed the media this afternoon at 2:30 pm to discuss the organization’s decision to fire head coach Paul MacLean. I penned some quick analysis that you can read here, but if you missed the availability, you can watch Murray speak in the video above. Below is my transcription. As always, […]
The Senators have officially fired their head coach Paul MacLean. Dave Cameron, the man Eugene Melnyk imposed on the coaching staff back when MacLean was assembling his staff is now the team’s interim head coach. At least MacLean went out on a winning note and hat tip to
